SPRING FLING – CELEBRATING ALL THAT WE DO

Spring Fling was held May 13 to Celebrate 30 Years of League fundraising and fun! The event was held at Indigo Hall and enjoyed by 90 League members. Decor designed by Mari Harter mirrored the champagne theme created by Anne Millhaem to highlight the 30-year milestone. Door prizes were of course bottles of Prosecco!

We recognized our incoming Executive Board for the 2026-2027 Season including Nancy Millette President, Dahlia Handman Administrative Vice President, Marty Neumeister, Membership Vice President, Becky Hauk as Fundraising Vice President, Anne Millhaem as Board Secretary and Bill Millhaem as Treasurer.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was renamed “The Ellen Taylor Volunteer of the Year Award” and was received by Bret Jacobowitz, celebrating his ongoing support and involvement in many League fundraising activities including our annual Swing FORE the Symphony Golf Tournament.

My thanks to everyone who contributed to making this such a great event!

LEAGUE MUSICALES

Approximately thirty years ago the first HHSO League Musicale was held in a member’s living room. Today, Musicales continue to bring members together to enjoy a wide range of musical offerings, delicious nibbles, and lively conversation. The 2025-2026 Musicales did not disappoint! The League hosted six Musicales welcoming nearly 300 attendees with musicians presenting music ranging from Mozart to psychodrama film scores.

We offer our sincere thanks to everyone who made that possible – our members who sponsored musicians, purchased tickets, provided appetizers and especially those who hosted our events: Jeffrie and Lou Natale, Peggi Moon and Bill Hutchinson, Mona Huff, Sally Ann and Jon Wormley, Marty Neumeister, Pearl and Chuck Mintzer. We also thank the volunteers who worked during the events: Peter Forbes, Stan Cooke, Carol Gyllenhoff, Terry Hicks, Nancy Millette, and Jerry Durkin. Thank you all so very much.

Finally, we thank the incredible Mario Incorvaia who made it all possible by bringing us fabulous musicians.

The Musicale Committee is busy planning for the 2026-2027 season. If you are interested in hosting a Musicale please contact Eileen Durkin, eileen.durkin54@gmail.com.

SPRINGTIME IN PARIS SOIRÉE AND FASHION SHOW

“Magnifique!” “Splendide!” These were some of the comments made by attendees of the “Springtime in Paris” Soirée and Fashion Show held in March at SoundWaves. This event was a fabulous way to achieve successful fundraising while celebrating the League’s 30th year.

Approximately thirty volunteers and eighty-five guests gathered to enjoy a very musical, delicious and “très chic” afternoon. An Eiffel Tower backdrop and colorful umbrellas adorning the ceiling created a festive Parisian atmosphere.

Singers from the HHSO Chorus performed French songs, including “April in Paris” and “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast. Laura Floyd and Beth Curtis mesmerized the audience with “Flower Duet (Duo des fleurs)” and Laura’s solo rendition of “La Vie en Rose” in English and French. The Ensemble was organized and accompanied by Symphony Board Member Chad Martin.

Guests were treated to delectable French savories provided by Chef Philippe Feret, owner of Hilton Head Social Bakery. A generous League donor provided delightful French wines, and the volunteer wait staff, wearing colorful berets, aimed to please with great enthusiasm!
