Founded in 2018, and led by world-renowned violinist, Carolyn Huebl, and cellist Felix Wang, professors at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, the Hilton Head Chamber Music Institute (HHCMI) provides an intensive training program focused on the art of chamber music.

The highly individualized program is designed for outstanding young musicians who play the violin, viola or cello, and have completed grades 8 through 12. The ten days of music making encompasses coaching, masterclasses, one-on-one instruction, special workshops, and professional performance experiences at SoundWaves, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra’s new, state-of-the-art island headquarters.

Surrounded by the serene beauty of the island, our mission is to offer a congenial and rigorous environment that fosters student-faculty collaboration, musical study, and inquiry. HHCMI will have a special focus on preparing students to be lifelong musicians who balance the highest level of performance with the enjoyment of life.
