The League offers numerous volunteer opportunities for those who are looking to become more involved with your HHSO!

Swing Fore the Symphony Golf Tournament

This fundraiser will be held on Thursday, November 13, at Moss Creek Golf Club. An informal breakfast is served during registration, and a reception and silent auction follow the golf.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Planning committee, auction solicitors, day of tournament volunteers, as well as golf foursomes, tournament promotion, and player sign-up.

Musicales

These are intimate and unique concerts; most are held in private homes.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Home host: Volunteer your home for a Musicale (League volunteers will help with any chair setup and parking), food preparation, and parking.

Post-Concert Receptions

Receptions are held after some of the Monday evening HHSO concerts and are an opportunity to get together with other attendees and orchestra members while enjoying delicious treats and beverages.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Reception captain: Makes phone calls to League members to provide and deliver several dozen cookies; oversees the event.

Food preparation, serving, setup, and clean up.

Concours d’Elegance

We support this multi-day motoring festival with volunteers who drive golf carts throughout the event.

Spring Fundraiser

An annual fundraiser is held every spring, usually in March. Events have included luncheon/fashion shows and Kitchens of Note tours.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Planning committee, sponsor/auction solicitations, and day of event volunteers.

Newsletter/Writing

This volunteer gathers information from committee chairs and edits it for our seasonal newsletters.

Social Media

This volunteer gathers highlights from League activities and prepares them for display on the Symphony’s League webpage and social media. This volunteer also uses social media to promote League events.

Computer Skills

Helps to maintain member information, produces name tags for events. Familiarity with Excel, Word, Mail Merge appreciated.

Soundwaves

Located at 7 Lagoon Road, Soundwaves houses the Orchestra’s offices and hosts numerous performances such as the Supper Club, Summer Chamber Music, and the Jazz Festival.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Usher, ticket sales and bartender.

Events are scheduled for various days of the week and start at 7:30 pm, with volunteers arriving at 6:00 pm. Most events are over by 9:30 pm. This is a fun opportunity to hear performances for free and meet other League members, as well as performers and attendees.

Symphony Under the Stars

The Orchestra offers two outdoor pops concerts each season, one in the fall and the other in the spring. Concerts are held in Bluffton and at Celebration Park near Coligny Plaza. Volunteering for these events supports the League’s goal of increasing outreach into our community.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Greeter, raffle ticket sales.

New Member Ambassador

This volunteer welcomes new members and encourages their participation in League activities.

Volunteer Opportunities

Welcome new members, familiarize them with volunteer opportunities and League events, and introduce them to other members. Help committee chairs with finding volunteers for events.

Digital Solutions Chair

This volunteer is responsible for leading the League’s efforts to develop a digital solution for ticketing the League’s events, recording membership information, and collecting volunteer elections. The goal is to find and implement one application to simplify our members’ experience, present a common look and feel, and provide flexible reporting on membership, volunteer selections and event responses.

Youth Liaison

This volunteer seeks opportunities for the League to be involved with youth music programs in the community. It requires a strong knowledge of the Symphony’s youth programs and the ability to communicate with and involve local music educators in those programs. The Youth Liaison may ask for League volunteers to staff youth events, for example, the HHSO Spring Youth Concert.
