Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra Announces New Season

The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra’s 33rd season, The Music of Dreams and Drama, opens on Sunday, October 12 at 4:00 pm and Monday, October 13 at 8:00 pm.  Tickets are now on sale for all concerts, and subscriptions are available for 3, 6 and 9 concerts.  Concert information is available on the HHSO website at www.hhso.org.
The 2014-2015 Season explores some of the most emotionally intense works created for orchestra.  From Shostakovich Symphony No.5 to overtures by Bernstein and Mozart and with some of concert-goers’ favorite soloists returning, it promises to be another great season.  Each concert will now be performed on Sundays at 4:00 pm and Mondays at 8:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church on Hilton Head Island. The season opens October 12, 2014 and runs through May 4, 2015.
In July, the HHSO announced that they have engaged Music Director and Conductor John Morris Russell for four more years. Maestro Russell, who took over his position with the HHSO in 2012, will now conduct the orchestra through the 2017-18 Season.
“John’s impact on musicians and audiences has been electric” says HHSO President Mary Briggs.  “The excitement of last season did more than promised. It didn’t just grow, it exploded.  This has resulted in the decision to double every concert for the 2014-2015 season.”
Concert tickets are $25, $40, and $50.  Reduced prices are available for children and their accompanying parent for Sunday matinees.  Call the Hilton Head Symphony office at (843)842-2055 to purchase or log into the orchestra web site at www.hhso.org
