YOUTH ORCHESTRA DIRECTOR AND CONDUCTOR

David Lunt

The Hilton Head Youth Orchestra is a vibrant organization that focuses on the performance, education and enrichment of the cultural environment of the lowcountry. Our students develop self esteem, discipline and leadership skills through large and small group performance and educational outreach. Ensembles range from our young members of the Sinfonietta to our advanced students in the Youth Orchestra. Admission into the group is by audition each year. The Hilton Head Youth Orchestra is excited to be a part of the growth and expansion of our community and is looking forward to reaching more and more young musicians over the coming years.

David Lunt, along with his wife Joanne, owns the Soundwaves School of Music. They have a three year old daughter named Aria. Originally from Maryland, Mr. Lunt attended West Chester University in Pennsylvania, the University of Miami, FL (Bachelor of Music Education) and Southern Oregon University (Master of Music). Prior to moving to Bluffton, Mr. Lunt taught at Ridgeview Middle School, North Carroll High School, North Hagerstown High School, and Long Reach High School, all in Maryland. Mr. Lunt is a member of MENC, the national organization for music educators, the South Carolina Music Educators Association, and the American String Teachers Association.
